Yoga at Marylebone Physio
Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured. ~B.K.S. Iyengar
Do you often feel stressed and unable to unwind at the end of a long working day?
Perhaps you are a keen runner or gym enthusiast who needs a really deep stretch.
We can promise you that no matter how tired, grouchy, stressed or frustrated you feel, by the end of a Yoga class you will be energized, invigorated, clear of mind and able to look forward to a restful night's sleep.
Benefits of Yoga include:
- Increased energy and vitality
- Increased flow of oxygen to the brain and release of those good old endorphins!
- Improved concentration
- Breathing exercises can help calm you down in a stressful situation, or you can incorporate them into your daily workout such as running
Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga
We offer Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow yoga classes at the clinic. Ashtanga Yoga strengthens and elongates the muscles and is great for developing your strength and general fitness. A combination of rhythmic breathing and challenging postures (asanas) are practiced in the same sequence at each session. The Yoga poses warm up the body internally, purifying on a cellular level, while the levels of concentration required help to relax and clear the mind.
Vinyasa flow to music
There is a maximum of 8 people per class for Vinyasa classes.
Yoga for Injury Rehabilitation
We believ in a collaborative approach for injury rehabilitation.
Yoga can be a valuable addition to an exercise rehabilitation programme. We use a thorough approach to strength and lengthen specific muscles, improve muscle coordination, develop dynamic muscle stability and recruitment, and prevent postural imbalances that may contribute to musculoskeletal injury.
Jivamukti Yoga
The Jivamukti Yoga method works to reintegrate the physical, philosophical and spiritual aspects of Yoga. Vigorous and stimulating, classes focus on vinyasa (flowing asana sequences), challenging postures, hands on adjustments, deep stretching and strengthening exercises. An emphasis is placed throughout the class on safe alignment and breath awareness, with meditation and relaxation completing each class. To keep the practice inspiring, asana sequences are ever-changing, with music playing an integral role in the class. Our Jivamukti practitioner is Samantha Hulston.
